We are searching for an experienced and outstanding Sr Agronomist. | Job description | This position will manage a variety development, selection and qualification program for ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston and support commercial adoption of new potato varieties, with a key focus on improving potato productivity and quality meeting consumer, operations and agronomic standards. Will support successful adoption of new varieties with tailored best practice information.
Position Responsibilities • Manage Variety Identification, Selection and
Qualification Program.
• Screen potentially suitable germplasm from public and private breeding
programs around the world
• Evaluate performance, analyze and report results.
• Support new variety introduction and adoption.
• Collaborate closely with breeders and industry experts.
• Work closely with agronomy team in developing best practices for new
varieties.
• Development tools and methods that enable early evaluation of important potato
attributes.
• Work jointly with overseas colleagues in identifying, screening and developing
new varieties.
• Maintain strong relationships with breeders, associated and collaborators
around the world.
| Qualifications/Requirements |
Position Qualifications
•
PhD. or Master’s Degree in Plant Genetics, Plant Science or other related
fields.
• Comprehensive understanding of the field of breeding, marker assisted and
molecular breeding, genomics, breeding techniques, tools and methods.
• Four (4) years’ experience in the field of plant genetics, breeding and/or
variety development and research. Or a combination of education and experience
deemed suitable by management.
• Proficient with computer software applications for word processing,
spreadsheet analysis, database development.
• Advanced skills in statistical analysis.
• Facilitation and Project Management experience.
• Effective presentation skills and solid oral and written communications.
• Strong drive for results, self-motivated, team leader.
• Must be willing and able to travel 33% of the time.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to meet ConAgra Foods driving standards.
