News: Lays: New Applewood Smoked BBQ and Sun-Dried Tomato and Parmesan Flavors Made with 40 Percent Less Fat than Regular Potato Chips

Catering to the growing demand for snack options that pack a rich flavor experience with less fat than traditional potato chips, Lay's Kettle Cooked - one of the brands of PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division - today introduced in the United States two new potato chip flavors with 40 percent less fat than regular potato chips: Lay's Kettle Cooked Applewood Smoked BBQ and Lay's Kettle Cooked Sun-Dried Tomato and Parmesan.

Chefs and culinary experts from Frito-Lay's Flavor Kitchen, the company's research and development hub for snacking innovation, worked to bring taste to the forefront of these snacks by layering flavors to build sumptuous food-like experiences, with less fat. Kettle-cooked potato chip fans can kick back, relax and enjoy a sensible snack without missing out on any of the flavor they expect.

"Consumers of Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips, many of whom are Baby Boomers, are increasingly looking for more unique flavor experiences, while at the same time maintaining balance in their diets," said Tony Matta, vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. "Thanks to unique flavor layering and high-quality ingredients in new Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips, consumers can savor the kettle-cooked crunch they've grown to love, with full flavor and less fat."

With summer in full swing, consumers who feel torn between sensible and delicious snacking can thank Lay's Kettle Cooked for combining the best of both worlds with its new 40% Less Fat chips. Both varieties capture the season's best flavors —slightly tangy, sun-dried tomatoes paired with creamy Parmesan cheese and barbecue seasonings accented with a smoky twist — so consumers can enjoy the iconic flavors of summer all year long.
