It
was only last week that we wrote in the
PotatoPro Newsletter about McDonald's "World Famous Fries".
We stated: "it is clear that McDonald’s wants us to know
a lot about how their products are made".
Looks like we nailed it:
Earlier this week we found
a publication (in German) that in Germany had started a TV
advertising campaign informing viewers how McDonald's
products are made.
And just yesterday,
McDonald's announced the Roll out of a new generation Global
Packaging design. The new packaging design will
illustrate - indeed - McDonald's Food Quality Stories.
The packaging will have the same design elements anywhere
in the world, but the
text message may differ. E.g. on the french fry package there is a small difference
between the text in the UK and the US: US text (see
picture): "Why are our fries the gold standard? Because only
a select number of potato varieties makes the cut".
On the US package this is followed
by the familiar "i'm lovin' it"
while the UK version adds: "Hot, crispy, and
delicious".
The new McDonald's packaging will be introduced in United
Kingdom, Ireland and the United States starting in November
of this year. Roll out in other countries will follow in
2009 and 2010.
