The Lamb Weston / Meijer - Bergen op Zoom processing facility was originally built by Fri-d'Or (Dansico) and was acquired by Lamb Weston / Meijer in 2001.

In December 2014, a 120 million euros (USD 150 million) expansion of the Bergen op Zoom factory was announced. This investment will add a second line to the plant, increasing the capacity for making french fries and other premium frozen potato products.

This so called "Premium Product Line" (PPL) not only enabled LWM to meet the growing international demand for high-quality potato products, they also implemented the latest technologies to optimize the production process and drive energy efficiencies.

Today, the Premium Product Line is the most energy efficient and sustainable line LWM operates (2017). Key examples are the optical sorting system, the eco-peeler, Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) preheating, an ultra-efficient freeze tunnel using less electricity, and the latest, most efficient packaging lines.

The Bergen Op Zoom factory also operates an improved wastewater treatment plant, with a greater biogas production capacity for electricity and heat production, enabling increased use of renewable energy.
