The mission of the Washington State Potato Commission is to serve the potato growers of Washington State by facilitating the awareness and value of Washington state potatoes.

The main functions of the Commission are to enhance trade opportunities, to advance environmentally sound production and cultural practices through research, and to represent the growers' interests in areas and issues relating to education, trade barriers, irrigation, transportation and crop protection.

Launching new research in support of Washington potato growers, Washington State University is partnering with industry leaders to study healthier, more sustainable, and productive soils.
The WSU study estimates the reduced potato acreage lowers production by 13% or 729,120 tons of potatoes, equivalent to the weight of about 76 Space Needles.
