Europatat and the Dutch Potato Association (NAO) are pleased to announce the opening for registrations for the annual Europatat Congress, taking place in The Hague (The Netherlands) from 24 to 26 May 2012.

Being traditionally one of the countries in which potatoes play a prominent role, the congress in The Netherlands will focus under the slogan “The Potato is coming home” on international food trends and marketing opportunities.

Among the keynote speakers are Hans Steenbergen (Food Inspiration, Trendwatcher), Jan Willem Grievink (Director of the Food Service Institute Holland) and Anton Haverkort (Potato Researcher at Plant Research International), three well-known experts. Rene van Diepen from the Dutch Potato Association stated: “The 2012 Europatat Congress will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to the potato sector. It is a well established event being both essential and enjoyable for all potato professionals.”

The congress will bring together the whole European potato sector, providing fresh ideas for the industry and a unique networking opportunity. The organisers have made some slight changes in the congress’s formula in response to wishes expressed during previous congresses, in order to provide even more value to participants.

Besides the professional part of the congress, there are also several social events organised to reinforce the networking and contact among the European potato community. The congress will take place in Kijkduin, which is The Hague’s 2nd seaside resort after Scheveningen. Various interesting excursion destinations (Delft, Leiden, but also the centre of The Hague itself) are easily accessible from Kijkduin.
