At the Pack Expo in Chicago that concluded last week, Heat and Control unveiled a number of new machines. Just in case you missed it, PotatoPro brings you some of the highlights.

Open Frame weigher simplifies cleaning.

Ishida RV Open Frame weigher

Ishida RV Open Frame weigher

Ishida’s latest IP69K waterproof weigher is now fully open for cleaning.

Product chutes and hoppers are exposed for easy access because electronic components are now housed in a separate waterproof cabinet. The cabinet can be mounted on the weigher frame or remote-located up to 65 feet away.

Open Frame construction is available on all Ishida RV-Series 14-head weighers with 2, 3, 5, and 7 liter hoppers.

Rated for IP69K, IP67, and IP66+ washdown, RV weighers are the industry’s most waterproof and have a sloped self-draining dispersion feeder cover, frame, and optional timing hopper enclosure.

Rapid set-up features include automatic optimization of weigh signal filtration, feeder vibration and timing. A new water-resistant infeed camera option is height-adjustable and positioned outside the product area. Like all RV weighers, the Open Frame weigher can be remote controlled from practically any desktop, portable, or hand-held device.

Diagnostics can be performed by wire or wireless to reduce the need for in-plant service calls.

Challenge the CEIA THS/MS21 multi-spectrum metal detector with your most difficult products

CEIA THS/MS21 multi-spectrum metal detector in action

Eliminate false rejects with no reduction in metal detection sensitivity using your most difficult products at the CEIA Challenge. Product demonstrations of the CEIA THS/MS21 multi-spectrum metal detector are now available from Heat and Control.

By applying a broad spectrum of frequencies simultaneously and continuously, the CEIA THS/MS21 detects smaller particles of all ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including AISI 316 stainless steel.

Developed by CEIA, the world’s largest manufacturer of metal detectors, the MS21 ends product waste and re-inspection due to product effect rejection errors.

Conformal coated circuit boards, stainless steel case and keyboard with proprietary sealing provide long-term water-resistance to IP69K standards

Dual energy X-ray for overlapping product inspection

Ishida IX-G2 dual energy X-ray inspection

Ishida IX-G2 dual energy X-ray inspection

Traditional X-ray systems detect foreign objects by analyzing dark and light areas in transparent x-ray images.

However, when products are overlapping, distinguishing dark areas from foreign objects becomes unreliable resulting in missed detections and false rejects.

New Ishida IX-G2 X-ray inspection systems solve this problem by using a unique dual energy process that compares absorption of x-rays on two levels. Ishida’s G2 technology improves detection of low-density objects in overlapped products. It is also adept at detecting thin pieces of metal, glass, rubber, hard bones, and other foreign objects in products that have uneven surfaces, like cereal and certain frozen foods.

The IX-G2 also includes functions for weight verification and detection of missing items, incomplete filling, product defects, incorrect alignment, or products trapped in package seals.

New sanitary conveyor for high capacities

FastBack P2 400E horizontal motion conveyor, a sanitary conveyor for high capacities

FastBack P2 400E horizontal motion conveyor, a sanitary conveyor for high capacities

Built to handle 40% higher capacities over previous models, the new FastBack P2 400E horizontal motion conveyor is the sanitary solution for high-volume transfer and distribution. Convey frozen chicken, meats, vegetables, and many dry products at up to 30 feet/minute, depending on product characteristics.

The FastBack 400E conveyor can be configured with longer or wider pans and distribution gates to handle a variety of frozen product applications. Its new Clean-Chassis design features flush water-tight doors, a sloped self-draining top, and special sanitary drive arm seals. The one-piece stainless steel conveyor pan requires minimal effort to clean.

Like all FastBack conveyors, the gentle slow-forward fast-back horizontal motion of the 400E reduces product breakage and the loss of coatings. Pre-mixed blends do not separate during conveying. Quiet operation is in the low-70dB range with product.

Proven reliable in thousands of installations, the FastBack drive train is protected by a 5-year warranty.
