Groundbreaking event for Marel’s Boxmeer site renovation
May 15, 2022
On Monday 9 May, Marel, Van Grunsven Group and construction company Wouters Schijndel jointly turned the first sod at the new site located on Lionstraat in Boxmeer. This was the official kickoff for the realization of a warehouse of approximately 11,500 m2 gross floor area. The warehouse is adjacent to Marel's existing building. Completion is expected by the end of this year. The new warehouse will allow Marel to separate the production processes better and organize them more efficiently. Due to the company's continuous growth, there is a vital need for expansion in Boxmeer.

The investment aligns with Marel’s ambitious growth targets and commitment to providing its growing global workforce with an excellent work environment. The entire site will be transformed, including the innovation cluster, demo center, manufacturing facility and offices, and built according to the highest environmental standards.

A workplace that inspires

The new workplace is designed to foster innovation and unity across functions for all 1,600 employees based out of Boxmeer who are united with the global Marel workforce counting 6,800 colleagues across the globe who work together with customers to transform the way food is processed. Each space will be designed to meet the needs of different experts and departments and reflect a changing reality of how people work and interact. The entire site will serve as an innovation campus—a space for employees, customers and partners to meet, be inspired and collaborate.

The major overhaul will leave no area untouched and see the construction of a new first-class warehouse facility. The renovation will see a complete renewal of the innovation cluster, demo center, manufacturing site, warehouse, staff restaurant, and offices. Marel's new building at Boxmeer

Significant attention will be paid to health and safety standards to ensure employee comfort and well-being, including optimal air quality.
