FAO Food Price Index continues to firm in May
The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 155.8 points in May 2016, 3.2 points (2.1 percent) higher than in April, but still 7 percent below the corresponding period last year.

Food prices continue slow upward trend
The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 151.8 points in April 2016, up 1.1 points (0.7 percent) from March, but almost 10 percent below its April 2015 level. The small increase in April represented a third month of gradual rise in the value of the FFPI.

A sharp rise in sugar and palm oil prices push global food prices up, as falling dairy prices are unable to compensate
The FAO Food Price Index averaged 151.0 points in March 2016, up 1.0 percent from February, but still 12.0 percent below its March 2015 level. A sharp increase in sugar prices and higher oil prices more than offset a drop of the price of dairy products.

The FAO Food Price Index averaged 150.2 points in February 2016, nearly unchanged from January, but 25.6 points (14.5 percent) below February 2015.

The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 150.4 points in January 2016, down almost 3 points (1.9 percent) from December and as much as 29 points (16 percent) below January 2015.

FAO Food Price index down 19% for the year 2015 - after another decline in December
The FAO Food Price Index dropped almost 19% since the start of 2015. In December 2015 the FAO Food Price Index averaged 154.1 points, down 1.5 points (1.0 percent) from its revised November value.
