Agricultural Equipment Manufacturer Scotts, which manufactures a range of vegetable harvesting machinery, celebrated its Silver anniversary on 11th September.

Scotts Precision Manufacturing has seen sales of its potato toppers and Evolution separator increase by over 30 per cent in the last twelve months.

Based in Eastville near Boston, the company was established by Derek Scott initially to service and maintain farm equipment.

Derek Scott:

“We've grown considerably over the years.”

“We moved quite quickly from maintaining farm equipment to designing and manufacturing a range of machines, which are used by farmers around the world!”

“We've worked very hard, assembled an excellent team and have been supported by some very loyal customers. We can't quite believe where the years have gone!”
Scotts' toppers are used as during the harvesting of potatoes to remove the haulm from the crop. The company manufactures a range of four toppers, which are put to work by customers across the UK and Europe.

Scotts' innovative Evolution separator quickly and effectively removes stones, clod and loose soil from a wide range of vegetables. Over the last 25 years, Scotts has shipped its Evolution machine to farmers in the USA and across Europe.

More recently, Scotts has worked with Lincolnshire County Council to develop an innovative verge harvester. The giant machine which is connected to a conventional tractor allows grass cutting contractors to collect grass clippings from roadsides.

The clippings are then sent to AD Plants, where they are converted into energy. Development of the new machine recently featured on BBC One's Countryfile programme and has contributed to Scott's being shortlisted in the East Lindsey Business Awards.

Derek and the team are planning a major celebration later this year, which will coincide with the completion of 6,000 square foot factory expansion, which has been supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Lindsey Action Zone LEADER Fund.

Matt Shaw, Derek’s business partner:

“It's been great to see the company grow over the years.”

“We're not resting on our laurels though. We're very much focused on the future, and we'll be working just as hard as always to develop and supply the best vegetable harvesting machinery that we can.”
