Value of HZPC certificate increases with the maximum 10 percent
May 14, 2015
The value of the certificate of HZPC Holland B.V., world leader in potato breeding and seed potato export, is determined on € 113.15 after the Stock trading day 2015. The value increased clearly for the eleventh time in a row and the HZPC certificate of share increased for the thirteenth time in its history with the maximum of 10 percent (per half year) in value.

From the 783,725 certificates, 8,202 certificates traded on the last stock trading day.

Gerard Backx, CEO of HZPC comments on the certificate price development:

“The continuous and clear increase of the value of the HZPC certificate and the strong demand for the certificate, show the continuous trust in the way of working of the HZPC organisation with our breeders and growers in the worldwide seed potato market.”
Fifteen years ago, HZPC introduced the certificate of share for the associated breeders, growers and employees against an opening value of € 24. The present value of € 113.15 means a value return of 471 percent over those fifteen years. HZPC organises a stock trading day for the associated breeders, seed potato growers and HZPC-employees in all the countries where HZPC is represented twice a year, in May and November. A bank assists with the organisation. Supply and demand determine the value of the certificate of share HZPC. The maximum increase or decrease of the value is 10%. HZPC traded the first certificates at a value of € 24 in financial year 1999/2000. A dividend was paid every year. The dividend is set in October.

Return

HZPC strives to offer the certificate holders a good return on the long and on the short term. Gerard Backx, CEO of HZPC adds:

“The value of the HZPC certificate has increased again, despite the difficult sales season and because of that the expected lower return of the HZPC company in the year 2014/2015.

The interest rates are now very low of course, but the increase shows a strong trust of the certificate holders in the company on the longer term.

Our certificate holders are working in the cyclic agricultural sector themselves and are entrepreneurs as well. They know we have to respond to current market developments, but that the longer term always has to resonate in our decisions.
HZPC combines its aim for return for the certificate holders with the aim for the payment of a good, competitive price to the HZPC seed potato growers, in all the countries where HZPC is represented.

For crop 2014, probably a seed potato price will be determined that is lower than last year’s price, as a consequence of a difficult seed potato market in Europe. The yields per hectare for crop 2014 are generally spoken higher than in previous years. This compensates somewhat the financial return (the product of price and yield ) for the growers.

The next stock trading day will be on 13 November 2015.
