The objectives of Asociación Latinoamericana de la Papa (ALAP) are:
 

• The organizing of meetings and study groups regional, national and international;
• The publication of information communications such as news, summaries of the state of crop in a given area, payrolls researchers, extension agents, producers, etc.; summaries of the meetings and other appropriate publications;
• The exchange of technical and scientific personnel, other partners, as well as genetic material, literature and others.
