Nu het poten van de oogst 2021 bijna klaar is, lijkt het heel goed mogelijk dat het totale aardappelareaal binnen de NEPG landen (EU-04) 3 tot 5 % lager zal uitvallen dan vorig jaar.

De NEPG die tot 31 december een organisatie van 5 landen was (EU-05: B, D, F, GB, NL), begon op 1 januari zonder de Britse AHDB. Om verschillende redenen is AHDB gestopt met deelname aan de NEPG.

De vraag naar aardappelproducten in de foodservice is met 50 tot 60% gedaald net zoals de

haar capaciteit en behoefte aan grondstoffen heeft verminderd. In de NEPG-landen op het vaste
land zal al meer dan 2 miljoen ton waarschijnlijk niet worden verwerkt.
