Due to the ongoing pandemic, the PAA Board of Directors has elected to host the 2021 annual meeting virtually. PAA’s mission is to collect and disseminate scientific information relating to all phases of the potato industry, including, but not limited to, teaching, research, outreach, breeding, certification, production, pests, transportation, processing, and marketing and utilization.

PAA is committed to virtually fulfilling this mission by offering a combination of educational sessions that includes the annual Frank L. Haynes Graduate Student Research Competition, a poster session and networking opportunities.

This year’s virtual gathering will feature a symposium on Diploid Breeding led by the PAA Breeding and Genetics Section. An important aspect of the symposium is to inform participants about new ideas and perspectives outside of their usual research groups.

We are excited to offer the opportunity to engage with the planned speakers and participants in a way that will add value to the potato industry. In addition, PAA Section Meetings for Breeding and Genetics, Extension, Production and Management, Physiology, Plant Protection and Utilization and Marketing will convene. These meetings provide specialized information and updates as well as a great opportunity to connect with colleagues.

PAA’s commitment to supporting graduate students is reflected in the annual Frank L. Haynes
