Er worden tien verenigingen opgericht in Nederland die het areaal consumptieaardappelen vrijwillig willen beperken.
Het initiatief komt van de Nederlandse Akkerbouw Vakbond. De vakbond heeft achttien bijeenkomsten belegd, zegt bestuurder Keimpe van der Heide. “Daar zijn 700 aardappeltelers geweest. Ongeveer 15 procent heeft zich direct aangemeld. Daar komen voortdurend nieuwe aanmeldingen bij.”
De kartelwetgeving verbiedt afspraken als meer dan 5 procent van de markt wordt bediend. Van der Heide: “Daarom splitsen de verenigingen zich als die grens in zicht komt. De NAV voorziet de verenigingen alleen van marktinformatie, zodat ze zelf kunnen inschatten hoeveel areaal nodig is voor een acceptabele prijs.”
Ook België, Frankrijk en Duitsland proberen telers verenigingen op te richten.
