Rusland heeft aangegeven interesse te hebben in het importeren van 50.000 tot 100.000 ton aardappelen uit Pakistan.
Een jaar geleden importeerde Rusland al 2.000 ton. Rusland importeerde vorig jaar ook aardappelen uit Marokko, Saudi-Arabië en Brazilië.
Volgens een Pakistaanse groente- en fruitexporteur zijn er al besprekingen geweest zijn met de Russische kamer van koophandel en importeurs.
Bij deze gesprekken is besproken dat Pakistan voor 15 januari een voorstel ingediend moet hebben. Rusland schijnt geïnteresseerd te zijn in 50.000 tot 100.000 ton aardappelen voor de prijs van $250-$270 per ton.
Pakistan exporteert aardappelen naar verschillende landen. Het meeste naar Sri Lanka waar vorig jaar 70.000 ton heen ging.
Pakistan teelt gemiddeld 2,7 tot 2,8 miljoen ton aardappelen en de lokale consumptie is 1,5 miljoen ton. Het gemiddelde exportvolume per jaar is 200.000 ton.
