Op de Zeeuwse eilanden hebben ze afgelopen week weer veel regen voor de kiezen gekregen. In totaal viel er 50 tot 60 mm. Ondertussen zijn de telers aardig aan de nattigheid gewend en laten ze zich door regen niet meer tegenhouden. Het rooien gaat dus gewoon door.
Wim van der Ree, adjunct-directeur van Nedato zegt dat er in hun teeltgebied afgelopen week 50 tot 60 mm neerslag gevallen is. 'De meeste regen viel vrijdag en zaterdag, maar ook de rest van de week viel er regelmatig regen.'
Ongeveer 2 tot 3 procent van het areaal zit nog in de grond. 'In de uithoeken van Walcheren, Zeeuws Vlaanderen en Schouwen- Duiveland zitten nog fritesaardappelen in de grond. Daar hebben ze te maken met zware kleigrond, wat het rooien bemoeilijkt. Daarnaast is het de vraag hoeveel aardappel tijdens het rooien niet zijn meegekomen bijvoorbeeld bij spuitsporen of de momenten dat de rooier noodgedwongen opgetild moest worden. '
