In het Noorden van Frankrijk zijn de pootcondities de laatste weken prima en is men volop aan de gang met het planten van de aardappelen voor de hoofdoogst.
Overigens zitten de vroege aardappelen al weer een tijdje in de grond.
In de meer zuidelijk gelegen departementen (bijv. Champagne) valt het voorjaar wat minder voordelig uit (tot voor kort regenachtig) en zullen de telers wat meer geduld moeten hebben voordat men de werkzaamheden kan opvoeren.
Ook dit seizoen loopt de export van aardappelen vanuit Frankrijk op rolletjes. Totaal vanaf 1 augustus 2010 t/m januari 2011 is er bijna 925.000 ton geëxporteerd tegen totaal nog geen 850.000 ton over dezelfde periode (aug. '09 t/m jan. '10) over oogst 2009.
