Europatat and the Czech Potato Association (UBS) are pleased to announce the opening for registrations for the annual Europatat Congress, taking place in Carlsbad (Czech Republic) from 30 May 2013 till 1 June 2013. On the official congress website www.europatatcongress.eu all information regarding the registration and programme can be found.

As the Europatat Congress is hosted in the Czech Republic, the congress will focus on the developments of the potato trade in Central and Eastern Europe. Indeed the successive Eastward enlargements of the EU in recent years have had a tremendous impact on the local market, while agriculture powerhouses such as Russia and Ukraine are heavily investing in potato production as well.

Among the keynote speakers are Petr Bendl (Czech Minister for Agriculture), representatives from market research company Incoma GfK, and representatives of the Russian Potato Association and Ukrainian Association of Potato Growers, with further speakers to be announced soon. Miloslav Chlan from the Czech Potato Association stated: “The 2013 Europatat Congress will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to the potato sector. It is a well established event being both essential and enjoyable for all potato professionals.”

The congress will bring together the whole European potato sector, providing fresh ideas for the industry and a unique networking opportunity. Besides the professional part of the congress, there are also several social events organised to reinforce the networking and contact among the European potato community.

The congress will take place in Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary), a well known spa town. Participants will be able to admire the beauty and sights of the spa town, other attractive cultural landmarks in its surroundings, and of course the capital of the Czech Republic – Prague – which participants will be able to visit on the last days of the congress.
