The owner of potato brokerage firm Spud city sales will make an initial appearance in Portage County Circuit Court today on charges of not paying farmers for shipments of potatoes.
Thomas Lundgren, owner of Spud City Sales of Stevens Point, is charged with nine counts of felony theft after investigators with the Portage County Sheriff’s Office say the farmers he received shipments of potatoes from were never paid.
The complaint accuses Lundgren of owing more than $750,000 to local potato farmers dating back to 2011. Ten different farms were named in the case.
