Restrain®, a specialist in residue-free technology for potato production and storage, has appointed Van Iperen BV as the distributor of Restrain Accumulator in the Netherlands.

Accumulator breaks apical dominance while simultaneously inhibiting sprout growth. During application there is little to no sprout growth, while apical dominance is disrupted and more sprouts develop once the treatment stops. This results in more stems and tubers per plant.

The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship. Van Iperen is known for its strong position in nourishing, strengthening, and protecting crops and for its sustainable cultivation solutions. With an extensive network of advisors, the company supports growers throughout the Netherlands.

Driving higher efficiency and yields in seed potatoes

Accumulator is a safe, simple, in-store pre-planting treatment applied more than 120 days before planting. It stimulates uniform physiological development, producing 2–4 mm sprouts on multiple eyes across a wide range of potato varieties.

Growers implementing Accumulator typically benefit from:

  • Higher marketable yields
  • Improved seed efficiency and crop uniformity
  • Average returns of approximately EUR 2,500 per hectare (USD 2,700), based on commercial trials

With Van Iperen’s technical support and market reach, Dutch growers can integrate Accumulator into their planting programmes for the 2025 season and beyond.
