Belgium’s long-standing love affair with potatoes goes far beyond taste. Potatoes are central to the nation’s culinary identity, and the iconic frietkot - a fast-food stand dedicated to fries - is officially recognized as part of Belgium’s national intangible cultural heritage.

From 8 to 10 February 2023, thirty-two Belgian suppliers of fruit and vegetables, potatoes and fruit trees, together with three trade associations and four fruit and vegetable auctions, will present themselves at the joint stand of Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board, VLAM, at Fruit Logistica in hall 27, at stand A 22.

CNIPT, Bord Bia, Europatat and VLAM have launched an inspiring campaign under the title “Potatoes, prepare to be surprised – Europe’s favourite since 1536”.

For Belgian potato traders, Sweden is a small, but admittedly growing market. In late April, the potential for Belgian fresh and processed potato exports was further explored.
