The Association da Batata de Portugal wants to increase the production of this tuber by 20% in the next two years, through a promotion campaign, which has an investment of more than EUR 20,000 (about USD 21,415).

New potato harvest started in last week, in Portugal. Due to the higher temperatures recorded in February and March, compared to last years, the earliest varieties reached the commercial size in advance.

Portugal's potato acreage has been reduced by around 5% compared to last year, reports the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) on its website.
