Frequently Asked Questions

How does Bühler maintain technological leadership across both food processing and advanced materials?

Bühler sustains its leadership by investing heavily in R&D, cross-industry innovation and digitalization. The company operates innovation centers worldwide where customers co-develop solutions. Its ability to apply technologies like optical sorting, extrusion, and thermal processing across industries (food, feed and materials) creates strong technological synergies.

What differentiates Bühler’s thermal processing systems from competitors?

Bühler’s thermal systems stand out due to precise control over parameters like temperature, airflow and moisture removal. This ensures uniform drying, better texture, and reduced energy consumption. Their legacy from Aeroglide gives them a deep specialization in conveyor drying technology, making them a global leader rather than just a supplier.

How does Bühler contribute to global food security beyond equipment manufacturing?

Bühler’s impact goes far beyond machinery. By enabling efficient processing of staple foods like grains and potatoes, the company directly supports food availability for billions. Additionally, it focuses on reducing post-harvest losses, improving processing efficiency and enabling sustainable protein solutions.

Why is Bühler particularly strong in the potato processing sector?

Bühler’s strength lies in combining drying technology with optical sorting. This integration allows processors to achieve consistent product quality in fries, chips and flakes while reducing defects and processing losses. Few competitors offer this level of end-to-end capability.
