Online tool to detect blackleg disease in potato using DNA testing has widespread application
Scientists have developed a user-friendly online tool called Uniqprimer, which quickly and automatically designs species-specific DNA tags (also known as primers) for detecting pathogens such as Dickeya dianthicola using DNA testing.
MSPrebiotic, is manufactured in Carberry, Manitoba and it largely consists of resistant starch, derived from raw potatoes.

Potato as effective as carbohydrate gels for boosting athletic performance, study finds
Consuming potato puree during prolonged exercise works just as well as a commercial carbohydrate gel in sustaining blood glucose levels and boosting performance in trained athletes, scientists report.
The greenhouse was funded completely through grants and many donor gifts. Dr. Don Zillman, who served as UMPI President from 2006-2012, and his wife Linda Zillman were the donors who provided the very first gift for the greenhouse.
