Tecnoplant, la división de agrobiotecnología del Grupo Sidus, ha desarrollado cultivares de papa resistentes al ataque de virus que, en la Argentina, pueden provocar mermas de hasta un 70 por ciento en la producción.

A worrisome tuber necrotic strain of Potato virus Y, called NTN, is now present in Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Montana, according to results of the 2011 Washington Commercial Seed Lot Trial.

The USDA, in cooperation with three major universities, recently launched a web site to disseminate information related to Potato Virus Y.
