Wood Prairie Family Farm is a certified organic family farm in Bridgewater, Maine, that produces and sells seed potatoes, vegetable seeds, and organic grains directly to growers and gardeners across the United States.
The farm has been in operation since 1976, specializing in organic Maine-certified seed potatoes as well as a variety of vegetable, floral, and cover-crop seeds, which are sold through a mail-order catalog and an online web store.
To preserve soil health and disease control, the farm grows seed potatoes and table potatoes in a four-year crop rotation system that also includes cereals, cover crops, and bio-fumigant brassicas.
In addition to potatoes, Wood Prairie sells organic grains, flours, vegetable seeds, herbs, and other garden-related items that are all certified organic under regional standards.

A Maine family farm thrives by growing specialty potatoes
Aroostook County has long been referred to as Maine’s Potato Empire. Because of the relatively short season in the County and its rich, fertile soil, potatoes became the dominant crop as non-indigenous settlement increased in the 19th century.
