The Buhler Technology Group has acquired 100% of the Chinese company Bangsheng Bio-Technology Co. Ltd. Bangsheng, the Chinese market leader in the field of flour improvement solutions for specialty flours, is opening up additional opportunities for Buhler in a market segment that is extremely promising for the future.

Bangsheng Bio-Technology Co. Ltd., set up in 1992 and headquartered in Guangzhou, generated sales revenue of about CHF 10 million in 2009. It currently employs over 60 persons and achieved average annual growth of 20% over the past years. The company is China’s undisputed technology and market leader in the field of flour improvers for specialty flours which ensure a consistently high flour quality. Among other facilities, the site also includes excellently equipped analytical and baking laboratories for testing flour, bread, and noodles.

Acquisition in line with corporate strategy

The acquisition blends ideally with the corporate strategy of Buhler. In addition to the plant and equip-ment that it supplies to customers, the Group is increasingly offering also related services which enable customers to successfully differentiate themselves in the marketplace and generate higher added value.

With this new acquisition, Buhler has unlocked additional customer potential, since Bangsheng enter-tains excellent contacts with all important flour mill operators in China. The expert teams of the Nutrition Solutions business unit of Buhler in Uzwil and at Buhler’s site in Wuxi will jointly develop new and cost-efficient customer solutions with their new colleagues at Bangsheng to further increase market share in China.

For the time being, the company with its existing employees will retain its traditional name in the market. The new general manager since June 1 has been Roy Gao, who has been active for Buhler in China up to now. He will be supported in his efforts by the previous owner and the existing management team.
