Potato is the most important food in Ireland. On average the Irish eat over 100 kilogram potato every year.

With 11.000 ha used for potato cultivation annually, Ireland does not belong to the largest producers in Europe, but the degree of agricultural mechanization is very high.

In 2012 Agricultural machinery manufacturer Grimme established a Sales and Service Center in Ireland. Grimme Ireland set up shop in Ballyboughal, about 30 km north of Dublin.

Despite the small market and the strong competition, Grimme managed to grow its market share and the rented facility became too small. Therefore, Grimme constructed a new Sales and Service Center on a one hectare large plot in Balbriggan, 25 km North of Dublin.

On March 9, an open day was organized at the new facility.
