Potato Field Day 2026 will take place on 28 January 2026 at B J Farms, Saraba Village, Ludhiana district, Punjab. The event will bring together potato farmers, agribusiness professionals, researchers, and technology providers for a large-scale live field demonstration of advanced potato farming solutions. Organised by Shaktiman-Grimme, in collaboration with New Holland, the Field Day is designed to showcase modern mechanisation technologies under real field conditions, offering growers practical insights into improving productivity, efficiency, and crop quality.

The Field Day represents a significant milestone in Indo-German agricultural collaboration. Shaktiman, one of India’s leading farm equipment manufacturers, has partnered with Germany-based Grimme, a global leader in potato and root crop machinery, through a 50:50 joint venture. This collaboration combines German engineering precision with Indian agronomic expertise to deliver machines specifically adapted to Indian soil conditions, farm sizes, and cropping practices.

A major highlight of the event will be live field demonstrations of specialised potato machinery operating in standing crops. Farmers will be able to witness the complete potato production cycle—from soil preparation and precision planting to vine management and harvesting—while interacting directly with technical experts and machine operators.

Key equipment on display will include the SGPP-205 Precision Potato Planter, engineered for accurate seed placement, uniform spacing, and consistent depth control. The planter helps reduce seed wastage and improves plant uniformity, contributing to better tuber size distribution and higher yields. Its adjustable row spacing makes it suitable for a wide range of Indian potato varieties and cultivation systems.

The SGPH-200 Potato Harvester will also be demonstrated live, highlighting its ability to mechanise harvesting while minimising tuber damage. Designed for Indian field conditions, the harvester ensures gentle crop handling, efficient soil separation, and reduced reliance on manual labour—an increasingly critical factor during peak harvest periods.

Supporting implements such as deep hillers and plant toppers will further demonstrate how effective soil shaping and timely vine cutting enhance tuber quality, strengthen skin set, and improve storage performance. These practices are essential for meeting the quality standards of processing industries and organised retail markets.

The event addresses key challenges facing India’s potato sector, including rising labour costs, labour shortages, climate variability, and the growing demand for uniform, high-quality potatoes. Through integrated mechanisation solutions, Potato Field Day 2026 aims to help farmers reduce production costs, improve operational efficiency, and increase farm profitability.

With New Holland tractors participating in the demonstrations, the event will also showcase complete tractor-implement combinations suitable for small and medium-scale farms. Most machines are compatible with 50–75 HP tractors, ensuring practical adoption across major potato-growing regions.

Beyond machinery, Potato Field Day 2026 serves as a knowledge-sharing and networking platform, enabling farmers to engage with agronomists, engineers, and fellow growers while gaining firsthand exposure to future-ready potato farming technologies.
