Okray Family Farms was founded in 1905 by Joseph Okray Sr. as the “Joseph Okray and Bros. Company”, which started out as a small trading business in downtown Stevens Point. By 1918, with the acquisition of some land, Okray Produce Co. was formed. Through the depression, the company continued buying land and adding to their acreage during tough times.

The development of commercial fertilizer and reverse hydraulic irrigation after WWII furthered the company’s growth, and gave local farmers the ability to irrigate and increase potato yields substantially. By the early 1950’s, other farmers were attracted to the potato business, and the industry in central Wisconsin continued to flourish.

Today, the farm produces over 1800 acres of potatoes and over 5900 acres of sweet corn, green beans, peas, soy, and maize annually. They are closely affiliated with Indian Hills Cranberry, LLC.
