Campbell to shutter Georgia snacks facility
Campbell Soup Co. has announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Columbus by the spring of 2022. Campbell Soup employs 326 at the facility, which makes candy, crackers, cookies, nuts and bars.
About a quarter of the workers at the Cape Cod Potato Chips facility in Hyannis, Massachusetts were laid off as two of the three production lines are shut down.

After the completion of the Snyder's-Lance acquisition announced today, an estimated 47% of Campbell's sales comes from snacks, versus only 26% from soup.

The Cape Cod Potato Chips factory will stay in Hyannis and will be expanded
Instead of moving the Cape Cod's potato chips production away from the "outdated" and "overcrowded" Hyannis factory on the Cape that the chips are named after, Snyder’s-Lance is instead investing $20 million to upgrade the facility.
