De Nederlandse aardappelmarkt is flauw. "Het loop wel, maar we kunnen het op onze sloffen aan", zegt Klaas Greydanus van Greydanus & Brouwer uit Heerenveen. De consumptie van aardappelen neemt af, en daardoor zakt de aanvoer ook telkens een beetje.
Bij Greydanus & Brouwer loopt op dit moment een actie met het aardappelras Donald. Deze aardappel is er al een paar jaar. Volgens Greydanus is het een lekkere aardappel, die nu zeer kruimig is. "Een beetje zoals de Eigenheimer, maar dan zonder de diepe ogen."Wanneer het gaat over nieuwe rassen benadrukt Greydanus dat de mensen toch vaak terug vallen op de oude zoals Redstar, Nicola, en Bildtstar. Het ras Bintje loopt als een trein in België en Duitsland, maar in Nederland gaat hij niet zo goed.
