Potato growers in the South of England are being warned that this weekend could see the season’s first major threat of intense potato blight pressure.
Syngenta BlightCAST is predicting ‘near-miss’ Smith Periods right through Friday, Saturday and into Sunday morning. This 48-hour threat comes on top of 24 hours of similar conditions through Kent and Sussex on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
The weekend’s blight pressure is compounded for growers in the South West, where strong winds are predicted to severely restrict spraying opportunities.
