Syngenta, het Zwitserse agrochemieconcern, verwacht volgens marktonderzoeksbureau MarketWatch een stijgende vraag naar zaden en bestrijdingsmiddelen en zal zijn omzet verdubbelen in 2015. Het bedrijf is momenteel de zaad-en gewasbeschermingsdivisies aan het herstructureren en brengt een nieuw zaadproduct op de markt dat beschermt tegen wortelschade.
"Ons vertrouwen in het toekomstige groeipotentieel van ons bedrijf wordt ondersteund door een innovatie pijplijn die de verkoop van de belangrijkste producten tot meer dan 17 miljard dollar verhoogt in 2015 t.o.v. de 8,4 miljard dollar vandaag", zei president-directeur Mike Mack. De omzet van de sector als geheel wordt in 2015 geschat op 223 miljard dollar, bijna een verdubbeling van de 134 miljard dollar in 2010.
