Groupe Florimond Desprez (GFD) Becomes Majority Owner of Danespo, Strengthening Seed Potato Breeding and Sales.
Groupe Florimond Desprez (GFD) Takes Majority Stake in Danespo to Boost Seed Potato Innovation and Market Growth

Groupe Florimond Desprez (GFD) has acquired DLF’s 49% ownership stake in Danespo A/S. The share transfer reflects both shareholders’ strategic focus on their respective core businesses. As a result, GFD becomes the majority shareholder and takes another important step in its strategic commitment to the breeding and sales of seed potatoes.
Florimond Desprez, Head of seed potato business unit of GFD:
"We would like to thank DLF for the constructive collaboration and for their strong support to Danespo over many years."
"The construction of Danespo’s new headquarters and breeding facility in 2018 illustrates the commitment both owners have shown for the development of Danespo."
Danespo and Germicopa (France) are the two main entities of GFD’s seed potato business unit. They both breed and market seed potatoes grown by local farmers. They are already closely collaborating. But this transaction will allow them to further develop their partnership and fully leverage synergies in potato breeding and seed sales.
To ensure smooth coordination and a strong alignment between Danespo and Germicopa, the business unit will be led by a shared executive management, with Baptiste Brunello appointed as CEO of the business unit. Baptiste Brunello has been employed at Germicopa for the past seven years, including three years as Production Manager and four years as CEO.
Danespo A/S will continue operating as an independent legal entity out of its current locations in Denmark. The Danish management team will remain responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations. Danespo will keep operating under its own brand, with a dedicated variety portfolio.
GFD will continue investing in the development of its seed potato business unit. In the coming months, Danespo will build a new seed grading and storage facility in Denmark. And Germicopa has announced its investment in a new research station.
