The SACAPP 2026 Conference is set to bring together the UK’s leading potato growers, industry specialists, researchers and innovators for a full day of knowledge exchange, collaboration and future-focused insight. Hosted in Dundee on 5 February 2026, the conference marks the 27th annual gathering of the SAC Association of Potato Producers, organised by SAC Consulting (part of SRUC).

Centered around the theme “Driving potato production success with data and innovation,” the event will highlight the latest advancements shaping the future of the potato sector. Delegates will gain access to expert talks, practical workshops and real-world case studies covering everything from precision agriculture and water resilience to supply-chain optimisation and sustainable production.

A standout feature of the 2026 programme is its global perspective. Representatives from Calbee Potato in Japan—Ren Okamura and Hiroto Sugiura—will share insights from their operational model and their knowledge exchange visit to Scotland earlier in the year. Their session promises a rare look at international innovation and how producers can adapt global methods to UK conditions.

The conference will also address urgent environmental and climate challenges. Experts from the CREW water project will explore water scarcity, irrigation best practice and strategies for building long-term resilience in Scottish potato production.

Producers will hear firsthand from James Thorburn of Farewell Farms in Orkney, who will discuss overcoming challenges as the UK’s most northerly potato grower. Adding to the innovation spotlight, Jacob Smith of Fibe will reveal how potato harvest waste is being transformed into textile materials—showing how circular economy principles can create new opportunities for the sector.

The event will conclude with a keynote address from Dr David Kenyon, head of Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) and Scotland’s Chief Plant Health Officer, offering strategic insights on plant health, regulation and the future landscape of UK agriculture.

Designed for growers, agronomists, traders and supply-chain partners, the SACAPP 2026 Conference provides a comprehensive platform for learning, networking and shaping the next era of potato farming. Entry is free for SACAPP members, with tickets also available to non-members and industry professionals.
