The TOPPA 800 Combi promotes uniform tuber size and quality by reducing haulm two to three weeks before harvest. This helps prevent virus transmission from haulm to tubers and improves skin set, enhancing storability. It provides a sustainable alternative or supplement to chemical treatments by mechanically crushing the haulm and blowing it to the bottom of the ridges.
Careful placement of the haulm between the ridges ensures optimal field conditions, especially when follow-up treatments such as herbicide applications are required. It also reduces the risk of blockages at the harvester intake, improving throughput capacity even in fields with dense haulm growth.
Designed for high efficiency, the rear-mounted TOPPA 800 Combi can be combined with a front-mounted unit such as the TOPPA 400, allowing up to eight rows to be topped in a single pass. It is adaptable to various row and track widths, including bed cultivation systems, ensuring versatility across different farming conditions.
Highlights
The TOPPA 800 Combi offers one-sided machine lifting, allowing both booms to be controlled independently via a hydraulic control box or ISOBUS. This flexibility enables efficient operation on irregular or wedge-shaped fields, improving overall field coverage and ease of handling.
Its pendular suspension system allows the two housings to adapt perfectly to uneven ground conditions, ensuring consistent performance. An optional hydraulic side shift further enhances alignment and adaptability during operation.
For precise tracking, the machine can be equipped with automatic ridge self-centre steering, which follows ridge alignment either manually or fully automatically. This is particularly useful when planter row configurations differ from those of the haulm topper, ensuring accurate and efficient operation.
The optional RidgeRunner system helps close cracks in the ridges after topping, protecting tubers from sunlight and reducing the risk of greening. Combined with adjustable support wheels and optional automatic height guidance, the machine ensures optimal working depth and consistent performance across varying field conditions.
