GRIMME first introduced the VARITRON 4 row self-propelled harvester in 2011, which went on to win ´Machine of the Year´ in 2012. 6 years later the family owned company GRIMME are now delighted to present the second generation, the VARITRON 470 Platinum boasting 435 HP with rubber tracks and 7-ton NonstopBunker as standard.
Pure driving comfort
One of the main priorities is to further improve the drivers comfort. The new ErgoDrive operating concept allows for intuitive control and easy access to all functions for the driver. The operator can save and personalise particular settings as required . Individual and field specific settings can be stored and retrieved conveniently by the operator.
Up to 12 modern LED headlights turn night into day, and the coming-home function allows for the driver to leave the machine safely. The assistance systems can also regulate the speed of the ring elevator and the main webs based on the load of the intake. A compressor and air compressor connections are installed as standard near the cab and the engine air filter. This allows for easy cleaning.
Continuously optimised
A greater emphasis was also placed on improving crop extraction. The attachment and the deflections of all main webs have been comprehensively improved, as well as the extracting rollers of the roller separator. This leads to a higher stability, an improved waste separation and allows for easy adjustability.
The integrated stone protection system (standard) protects each share blade as well as the entire share frame. In case of any contact with obstacles/stones in the ground the intake of the machine is protected. For use in heavy soils it is now possible to use highly wear-resistant plastic share blades, which can reduce the amount of soil sticking to the blades (less adhesion).
The novel transfer unit in the ring elevator ensures an equal and gentle distribution of the potatoes into the pockets of the ring elevator. OptiBag, which is an option, can be used to further increase cleaning performance and potato protection.
Another new optional extra is the haulm distributor which spreads the waste potato plants and haulm evenly over the cleared surface. The spreading distance of the haulm can easily be controlled and adjusted from the cab.
The weight distribution of the machine has been significantly improved, i.e. by a redesign of the rear axle, by displacement of the fuel tank and by use of light, stable plastic bars in the webs. As a result ground compaction is considerably reduced, as well as offering greater machine stability, even with a full bunker.
The latest and strongest TERRA TRAC rubber tracks ensure highest soil protection and stability on slopes. The telescopic front axle allows the use of a wide, soil-protecting tire, which also means less compaction on the right outer row.
The versatility and availability of separators is unique in the potato harvester market. Beside the fine haulm elevator, GRIMME offers a Roller Separator or a MultiSep and is the only manufacturer that offers a VarioRS, a double MultiSep or even the combination of a Roller Separator and VarioRS or MultiSep.
The VARITRON 470 Platinum TERRA TRAC meets the requirements for the latest emissions laws (Tier 4 Final) and is available with a row width of either 75 cm or 90 cm. The VARITRON series has been made in our purpose built factory in the "Niedersachsenpark" (Rieste/Germany) since 2011, with the most modern, advanced equipment and is one of the best selling self-propelled harvesters in the world.
