Carl Bleyert Handelsgesellschaft mbH is a German family-owned wholesale company that specialises in the trade of potatoes, onions, and other agricultural products from its base in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. As a Kartoffelgroßhandel (potato wholesaler), the company operates in the potato supply chain, sourcing table potatoes and seed potatoes from domestic growers and imports to supply the specialty trade, weekly market traders, restaurants, large-scale kitchens, rural wholesalers, and farming operations within a 100 km delivery radius.
Founded by Carl Bleyert on 1 March 1926, the business began in a mansard apartment in Dortmund, earning the founder the nickname 'Dachstubengrossist' (attic wholesaler). After moving to premises near the Ostbahnhof freight yard and later to the Dortmund Großmarkt, the company grew steadily under the founder's son, Carl Bleyert Junior, who took over after his father's death in 1956. From 1973 onward, the third generation, also named Carl Bleyert, has led the family firm, maintaining its independent family ownership.
