In one of its projects with Royal Avebe, a Dutch potato starch producer, the client faced the challenge of reducing particulate emissions from three starch dryers to comply with stricter environmental limits of 20 mg/m³ before the potato processing campaign began. JOA conducted a pre-engineering study involving site inspections, airflow analysis, and CFD modeling to evaluate the existing air treatment system. Based on the findings, the company proposed upgrading the wet-trap scrubber system with optimized nozzle design, improved airflow distribution, and better liquid-to-gas ratios to enhance dust capture efficiency. The recommended solution helped the facility achieve the required emission standards while maintaining production continuity, and also identified opportunities for future energy recovery improvements.
