Penford Corporation Penford Food Ingredients (PFI) offers a complete line of cost-effective starch, dextrose and dextrin ingredients based on corn, potato and tapioca starches.
Penford Food Ingredients (PFI), a branch of Penford Corporation, was a supplier based in the United States that focused in specialty starches and carbohydrate systems derived from corn, potato, and tapioca.
The company, based in Centennial, Colorado, created and manufactured ingredient solutions for a variety of food and industrial uses, such as texture systems, coatings, and gluten-free formulations. PFI maintained six manufacturing facilities and three research and development centers across the United States, with a focus on providing tailored starch-based solutions to satisfy changing consumer and industrial demands.
In March 2015, Penford Corporation was bought by Ingredion Incorporated, a worldwide ingredient solutions supplier, for roughly $340 million. This acquisition broadened Ingredion's portfolio to include Penford's expertise in potato starches, non-starch texturizers (hydrocolloids), and environmentally friendly solutions.
Following the acquisition, Penford's activities were merged into Ingredion's North American business sector, increasing the company's specialized ingredient capabilities and expanding its reach in the food and industrial markets.
