ALAP 2016 Panamá: XXVII Congreso de la Asociación Latinoamericana de la Papa

A couple of seed potato companies from Quebec, together with the Centre de Recherche Les Buissons (CRLB) have started an initiative to export high quality seed potatoes to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Potatoes USA sponsored a U.S. demonstration plot at the Panama-hosted Latin American Potato Congress (known as ALAP).

Con el lema “Sabor y nutrición en un solo lugar”, la Asociación Latinoamericana de la Papa (ALAP) realizaron del 22 al 26 de agosto de 2016, el XXVII congreso bianual ALAP, encuentro que reunió connotados investigadores de diversas partes del mundo, productores, empresarios, extensionistas, estudiantes y otros interesados en conocer más sobre la producción de papa.

Several experts on potato crops stated in Panama that global warming destroyed between 10% and 20% of Latin America's annual potato production and that it had become the main threat faced by this crop, even more than late blight, an aggressive fungus that affects this crop.
