Ankapa Sillun, meaning “Hawk's Claw,” is a rare Andean potato traditionally grown at high altitudes (3,300–4,200 m). Known for its unique sickle-like (falcate) shape and cream-colored skin with irregular purple patches, this variety has light yellow flesh. It is especially prized for chuño (freeze-dried potato) production, with less frequent use in boiling due to its long cooking time. 

Tuber Characteristics:

  • Shape: Elongated, falcate (curved like a claw)
  • Skin Color (Primary): Intense cream-white
  • Skin Color (Secondary): Irregular purple areas
  • Flesh Color: Pale yellow
  • Number of Tubers per Plant: 11–21
  • Yield per Plant: 0.7–1.0 kg
