Descripción de la variedad

The Reiver potato variety is a high-yielding table potato, producing approximately 46–49 tons per hectare (18.6–19.8 tons per acre). It performs best in high-altitude regions ranging from 1800 to 2600 meters above sea level. Recommended areas for cultivation include Timau, Tigoni, Molo, Narok, Bomet, Timboroa, Nyandarua, and Naivasha.

The tubers have white skin with shallow eyes and cream-colored flesh. Reiver has a medium dormancy period of 1 to 2 months. While specific dry matter content is not available, the variety is noted for its desirable agronomic characteristics.

The plant is medium in height with upright stems and features medium to dark green foliage accompanied by white flowers. Reiver exhibits resistance to potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis) and various tuber blemish diseases. This variety is owned by James Hutton Ltd and is suitable for table use due to its appealing tuber and plant characteristics.
