Cape Cod Potato Chips expansion on hold as Campbell reviews all capital projects
The Cape Cod Potato Chips plant, located in Hyannis Mass., is now owned by Campbell Soup Co., acquired as part of its Snyder’s-Lance purchase. A year after plans were announced for a $20 million expansion, the future of the Hyannis production facility is once again uncertain as Campbell is reviewing all capital expenditures. Spore Sampling may alert Idaho Potato Growers faster of Late Blight threat
Potato growers in Idaho will now have the opportunity to learn about the presence of damaging fungal pathogens much earlier, thanks to the efforts of research staff at the University of Idaho. The research team, led by James Woodhall, has placed 14 spore samplers in potato fields across the Snake River Valley.

US long Potato Imports impacted by Proposed Rule to modify Idaho Marketing Order
USDA-AMS has proposed a rule to revise the classifications that determine the size requirements for potatoes grown in Idaho and Malheur County, Oregon. The proposal would also apply to all import of long type potatoes.
