La serie Enfoque en la papa de la Red de Manejo de Plantas (PMN, por sus siglas en inglés) acaba de publicar en inglés un webcast titulado Manejo práctico la sarna polvorienta de la papa.
El webcast es presentado por Robert D. Davidson, Ph.D., Profesor del Departamento de Arquitectura de Horticultura y del Paisaje, Universidad Estatal de Colorado, EUA.
Es una presentación que explica a consultores y productores sobre cómo identificar la enfermedad y la forma de manejarla con un enfoque integrado de control.
El Dr. Davison describe los síntomas que identifican las diferentes etapas de la enfermedad y explica la manera de diferenciarla de otros problemas similares. Son discutidos algunos detalles específicos del patógeno, el huésped, el ciclo de la enfermedad y los factores ambientales que estimulan o inhiben el desarrollo de la enfermedad.
Se presta mucha atención al manejo de la enfermedad, la medición de la carga de inóculo en el suelo, la selección de la variedad a sembrar, su resistencia al patógeno, los niveles del inóculo, el medio ambiente y el uso de productos químicos.
