PepsiCo has inaugurated a new Sabritas production plant in Celaya, Guanajuato, as part of an investment exceeding USD 467 million, included within a broader USD 2 billion multiyear plan for Mexico between 2025 and 2028.

The new industrial facility strengthens PepsiCo's presence in the country and reinforces Guanajuato's position as a strategic hub within Mexico's agribusiness sector. The company highlighted Mexico as its second most important global market, supporting continued investment in infrastructure, talent and technology.

Production capacity and operational efficiency

The plant adds an annual production capacity of 66,500 metric tons and operates three production lines for brands including Sabritas, Doritos, Cheetos and Ruffles.

The facility incorporates advanced technologies focused on sustainability and efficiency, including:

  • Water recirculation systems
  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Solar panels
  • LED lighting

These solutions support resource optimization while reducing environmental impact.

The project also strengthens Mexico's agricultural value chain, as PepsiCo collaborates with more than 40,000 producers across the country. The company purchases 20% of Mexico's potato production and sources key raw materials such as corn, wheat, bananas and cocoa locally, with 100% of the white corn used in its products grown domestically.

Employment and regional development in the Bajío

PepsiCo’s operations in Guanajuato now total nearly 2,900 jobs, including 210 new specialized direct positions at the Celaya plant, as well as approximately 800 indirect roles across logistics, transportation and agriculture.

The infrastructure is supported by 34 distribution centers and more than 1,100 distribution routes, strengthening regional connectivity.

Recognized as a logistics gateway to the Bajío region, Celaya continues to consolidate its role as a key location for industrial expansion and supply chain integration across Mexico.
