Since October Henk-Jaap Meijer is back at Research & Development of Emsland Group. For those who do not know him already, here is his background.

Henk-Jaap Meijer, head of Research & Development at Emsland Group:

"After completion of my Masters Polymer Chemistry at Groningen State University, I started in 1988 as Product Developer at AVEBE in their Chemistry Department. After several years I switched to Technical Applications and became later Head of Application Department Food."

He went through various functions in food ingredient companies such as Loders Croklaan and BASF and finally joined Emsland Group in 2006. Started his own consultancy company in 2014 and worked for processors of cassava, wheat and corn mainly in South-East Asia and Africa.

Now he returns to potatoes and peas. Together with old and new Emsland colleagues they focus on 5 main subjects:

  • Plant based proteins from potatoes, peas and mung beans
  • Soluble- and insoluble fibres from the same crops
  • Clean label starches for all food segments
  • Start-up of our modern state-of-the-art "WaltrAut" autoclave-drum dryer line with further development of building additives and sizing agents for glass fibre
  • Preparation for next Food Ingredients Europe and training of agents prior to the event

Henk-Jaap Meijer:

"I have been positively surprised by the determination with which Emsland Group departments are weathering the Covid 19 pandemic and coming up with solutions to support our agents and customers with innovations or online trainings."

"We have many new products in our innovation pipeline which we will introduce during next exhibitions. Look forward to meet you soon either in Emlichheim or at FiE later this year."
