The company traces its origins to 1973 when Nisseki Plastics Co., Ltd. was established in Japan. CLAF mesh production began at the Narita plant in 1974. In 1990, a joint venture was formed between Nisseki Chemical and Amoco, and CLAF production started in Roanoke, Alabama in 1992. Milife fine-denier polyester nonwoven was launched in 1999. The company rebranded as Atlanta Nisseki CLAF Inc. in 2000, then as JX Nippon ANCI, Inc. in 2010 following integration with JX Nippon Chemical. In 2021, the company rebranded as ANCI Inc., expanding into ALTA housewrap, Sycltex banner media, and D-Net packaging solutions with U.S.-based production.
